Time Warp
I told Linda before supper tonight that I was going to go for a short ride. I figured I'd be gone about half an hour.
Well I got on my bike and rolled onto the highway. From there it seemed like time stopped. The sun was shining , it was warm and there were hardly any cars on the highway. Perfect!
I floated down to my turnoff point in what seemed no time and then booted it up what is called the Nanaimo Lakes Road.
I do not know how long the loop is that I run as I never watch the odometer.
The Nanaimo Lakes road is a winding, hilly jaunt, out into the country. There are very few houses on the road and no one uses it much. It is a lonely ride but I don't mind; actually I like it.
Once on the road I settled into some kind of mind altering rhythm; rolling in and out of the throttle, leaning into the turns, feeling the rise a fall of the road beneath me. Before I knew it I was back on the highway and stopping at the last set of lights before home.
I only remember them because some guy on a Harley (known as "Hardley's" to Sport Bikers) with his girlfriend on board wanted to race me off the lights, revving his noisy motor up and down to egg me on.
You don't race Hardley's with my bike. You just move off the line a little quicker than normal and leave them standing. I left the guy and his gal half way across the intersection .
When I got home I wandered into the kitchen looking for some grub. Linda rather exasperated asked me what had taken me so long . I was kind of confused with her statement. I really thought I had only been gone 45 minutes tops. She informed me it actually had been nearly 2 hours!! Dinner was stone cold !!
Humm.. Interesting how time seems to vanish when you are out ..flying on your zx14!!
